Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III hits platinum its first week in stores as it sold over 1 million copies, which exceeded early estimates of 900,000 to 940,000. Wayne's new CD sold 1,005,545, according to Nielsen SoundScan, making him the first artist since 50 Cent in 2005 to sell more than 1 million copies of an album in a single week.
